New album news!

Rolling Stones have published an article with some news from our favourite Aussie rockers. Unfortunately it doesn’t include any update on the release date, but does specify the name of a new song: Back Home - that Andrew reckons is one of his favourites. Interesting to read that they have just 10 songs ready … let’s hope they are all good because there’s no room for cutting!

Good news for fans of asskicking Australian bands: Wolfmother is hard at work on a new album. According to singer Andrew Stockdale, the band is looking to release the as-yet-untitled album early next year. “It’s kind of cinematic, and it’s kind of epic,” Stockdale says of the new disc. “But there’s also this fully-aggressive side that’s undeniably explosive.” Wolfmother have yet to select a producer, but Stockdale says they have about ten songs ready to go, including a track called “Back Home,” which is one of Stockdale’s favorites. “Other bands are like, ‘Yeah, we wrote sixty songs and edited it down to this,’” says Stockdale, who’s been wrtiting both at his new house in Brisbane and while vacationing in Byron Bay. “We spend a lot of time on each song, crafting it, changing the key, changing the arrangement, and so on. We don’t like to write thousands of songs.”
10 tracks is enough, quality is better than quantity.

This is exciting! I’ve been waiting hear about the new stuff! About the 10, Led Zep. IV had only eight, Dark Side of the Moon had only nine. I am stoked! Keep Rockin!

this would be an awesome album. i wish they would hurry up. ten tracks is fine but they might make more in time.who cares wolfmother, are awesome.

Same for me, 10 songs is just fine. As long as they are all awesome like their last album. I really do hope their new album comes out before February!! Then I could get it as a BDay gift!!! I hear that a cover of Communication Break Down will be on it as well (and I have heard they do a really good cover of it!)
Is there any official date yet?
No all they said was that it was going to be released early 2008. But I doubt communication breakdown is going to be on the new album
I can’t wait for this album. I agree with the other guys, ten awesome songs is better than 18 OK songs. I would like to see their cover of Communication Breakdown on it as well, as they rock that cover. however if it is as epic of a CD as they say, a cover wouldn’t fit on it.
Can’t wait! I really hope they continue were they left though, cause the first album is simply the best album out in thirty years. But hey, something extraordinary would have to happen to make Wolfmother write bad songs, right?

I’M A DEEP PURPLE FAN AND I THINK IT WOULD ROCK IF WOLMOTHER INDUCTED THEM INTO 2008′S ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME. DEEP PURPLE ARE EARLIER PIONEERS IN HEAVY ROCK OTHER BANDS OF THE ERA LIKE BLACK SABBATH AND LED ZEPPLIN. TAKE HIGHWAYSTAR FOR EXAMPLE THAT WAS DEFINITE HEAVY ROCK WHILE BLACK SABBATH AND LED ZEPPLIN ARE QUESTIONABLE. KEEP ROCKIN’ WOLVES!
yeah that would be awesome if they did that for deep purple but i’m not sure if wolfmother has the right style of singing for the deep purple but if they were to do a song they should definatly go with the song lazy

im mainly hoping that the style is mainly the same, i saw an interview saying that he said “How about lets make another 10 songs like Woman?” which would suck. but im not to worried about that if the songs are “cinematic” and “epic”

actually, i wouldn’t mind waiting for a bit if they put a few more tracks on. but 10 is good too! can’t wait for the CB cover.
