It’s official - Wolfmother split

Grammy Award winning rock band Wolfmother has announced the resignation of bass/keyboard player Chris Ross and drummer Myles Heskett effective immediately.
Singer/guitarist Andrew Stockdale now plans to find other musicians over coming months and to then begin making a new Wolfmother album.
Wolfmother toured the world virtually non-stop through 2006 and early 2007 on the back of their acclaimed self titled debut album. Longstanding frictions within the group then lead them to take an extended break during the second half of 2007 to consider their future.
In early 2008 they regrouped and worked on new material. Initially encouraged by those sessions, they committed to a handful of live shows to ‘road test’ the new songs and to try to find a way forward.
Those dates concluded with a headlining slot last Sunday at the Splendour In The Grass Festival in Australia’s Byron Bay where rumours circulated about possible lineup changes.
Following that show Chris Ross decided to announce that he was leaving the band due to irreconcilable personal and musical differences. Myles Heskett has also decided to leave the band rather than continuing as part of a changed lineup. The pair has been working together on songs for some time and they plan to focus their energies on that new project in the future.
Wolfmother’s self titled debut album is one of the most successful Australian rock releases this century. It has sold over 1.3 million copies and received multiple ARIA Awards and a Grammy – making them the first Aussie band to receive such an award in 25 years. Other highlights for the group have included appearances at just about every major music festival in the world, sharing stages with Pearl Jam, The Who and The Strokes, and a special performance inducting the legendary Led Zeppelin into the UK’s Rock’n'Roll Hall of Fame.
Andrew Stockdale, Myles Heskett and Chris Ross will make no public statements at this time except to say that they are each really looking forward to making their new music over the years ahead.
In the meantime they simply ask all Wolfmother fans to please understand that in spite of their best efforts over a long period of time, they just could not find a harmonious way to work together and that has lead to the decisions announced today.

Seriously…the worst part of all this…is how heyve treated US…the fans, in the last year
first the kept us in the dark for almost a year..staying totaly silent, and not giving us ANY info on the second album that they were supposedly working on for a sring release.
THEN they go on they last tour as a band without TELLING the fans or giving them an opportunity to see them in concert a last time.
THEN they DENY a split..only to announce it like 2 days later
and the finisher…they decline to relase a statement to us to explain why theyve jerked us around for the last year

Wolfies, dont fear. This is not the complete end of Wolfmother. Stockdale is still keeping it alive. Once he finds musicians, a new album will be in the makings. While it does suck, in the meantime, go listen to the album over and over and do not let Wolfmother die!

Ughhh… Today was horrible. I’m crying over the break up, but I’m still going to rock out to my Wolfmother DVD in about 5 minutes. Wolfmother are now finished. Finally Jet can re-take the mantle of oz rock gods… of which they righty are and have always been.
I love Wolfmother more than anyone I know… I have traveld miles and miles to see them. I can safely say EVERYONE CALM THE FUCK DOWN! You can’t be mad at the band members for not wanting to work with each other anymore. That kind of shit happens, PEOPLE GET SICK OF EACHOTHER! It would have sucked if Wolfmother forced themselves to put out a record filled with frustration and disagreement. It would have been a suck ass album, and then you all would have been far more disapointed and betrayed. You know Andrew has been writing new stuff for a long time, so the new line up will have something to work with. I’m sure it won’t be too much longer for that new album. As for new members… it will be a different Worlfmother, but I’m sure it’s not going to be a bad Wolfmother, or a so-so Wolfmother. Andrew is not just going to pull in the first few dip shits he sees on the streets. He’ll get creative, insightful, skilled musicians that he enjoys working with. Mabey he’ll get more than just two. Mabey three or four. I’m not sure what will happen but I know that things will be just fine.
I know this sucks but get a hold of yourselves! THIS IS NOT THE END FOR WOLFMOTHER.

Its unfortunate that wolfmothers split but at least the band is still going hopefully andrew will find new band members and re launch wolfmother.
They had a good run and will be legendary in the years to come. Im glad i was fortunate enough to see them live at southbound in WA and I hope the new album makes up for there loss. Thanks Wolfmother.

Time for the Flamenco Album dude!
I can fortunately say that I saw them play with Pearl Jam here in Spain. It was my first contact with Wolfmother and since then I have played their CD constantly. They instantly became one of my favorite groups and I have been hanging to get my hands on new material. This is the first new group I’ve gotten hooked on in years and to be honest I think that it’s a damn shame they’ve split up. In my opinion, they were destined to greatness and in years will be remembered as legends. For us fans however I feel that, even if Andrew gets new musicians the vibe will never be the same. I however will always remember them performing Baba O’relly on stage with Pearl Jam and Andrews intense Duo ( a la Chris Cornell) on Stage with Eddie Vedder singing the Temple of the dog classic Hungerstrike.
Wolfmother RIP.
Try listening to Led Zeppelin. It’s the same stuff, only they did it first. Wolfmother sucks.

I feel more magic with Wolfmother than Led Zeppelin. I actually saw Wolfmother live. I never had a chance to see Zeppelin live. Led Zeppelin just seemed like a look at me fest. Page was fuckin’ full of himself. Plus Wolfmother is like a classic rock band for a new generation. They are carrying on the crown and keeping classic rock alive. Believe it or not anonymous, Wolfmother and Led Zeppelin are two very different things. Wolfmother just has small hints and elements of Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. Things like the fuzzed out guitars and Pentatonic scales.
Guys… I play Drums, if you’re thinking of replacing the missing links! Never give up Guys!!!

Come on Guys cheer up Andrew makes up the main sound of wolfmother with his voice and riffs. With him fronting the band I don’t think they will deviate much from their original sound.

andrew is the band. he started the band, he wrote the songs and is the lead member. the sound will stay the same with andrew still there. them breaking up is better then them lying to us, wasting our time waiting, and them sucking because theyre not getting along. at least now there is progress

many bands have replayced bandmembers - look at motorhead. the only existing original member is lemmy. but they are still alive. so i think, wolfmother will also survive - with two other members. that’s rock’n'roll
