Wolfmother announce a gig!

That’s right. Believe it or not, there is some news regarding our beloved band! For the first time since the ‘split‘, there are plans for a gig.
News from Australia is that Wolfmother will headline the Clipsal 500 evening entertainment schedule, rocking the stage on Sunday 22 March 2009. Yes that is a looong time away, but hey, it means that there is a band to headline! Which means that there is very likely to be a band right now, though of course we don’t know what the lineup looks like …
By way of background, he Clipsal 500 is a four day motorsport event that is expected to attract crowds of up to 300,000. Races include a variety of car types, from V8 supercars to Porsche Carreras.
But it’s the evening entertainment that has me and many others interested. Not only will Wolfmother headline, but also The Living End, Pete Murray and Lee Kernaghan. The full ’2009 Jim Beam TrackSounds On-Circuit Concert Series’ is as follows:
- Thursday, 19 March, 2009 – The Living End, Gyroscope, The Butterfly Effect and The Potbelleez, presented by Nova 91.9.
- Friday, 20 March, 2009 – Nova 91.9 presents Pete Murray, Faker and Operator Please.
- Saturday, 21 March, 2009 – Lee Kernaghan, Beccy Cole and The McClymonts, presented by FIVEaa.
- Sunday, 22 March, 2009 – Wolfmother and The Getaway Plan, presented by Mix 102.3.
Hopefully, as one forum member put it, “the snowball has started rolling” and we’ll start to get some more news out of the band and their management.

I hope they announce something in the interim – 6 months is a long time to wait!

Text will never come close to being able to describe how excited I am right now. This is amazing. I’m so glad to see that Andrew is staying loyal to us, Wolfies! I’m too excited to talk, I’m speechless. Can’t wait for more news!

Actually I am genuinely excited. Sure it would be great to be there and see the new band, but more so it reassures me that things are progressing and there will BE a band in the future.
They’ll come here for next summer’s festival circuit =0)

First time i saw them was in Feb 2006 at the Drake in Toronto…best concert of my life
Theyve def got some intensly loyal fans.
they day they release a new album will be a damn good day.
oh truly, man… its basically like waiting for…like waiting for the new wolfmother album, man! there can be no comparison, only vibes! and its really just fervent anticipation without expectations…like it was the first time. its gonna happen all again, folks…wolfmother fever, like there cant ever have been before, as long as the band lives on, nor ever again once they are gone…its a great moment to be around:)
i live in the US and wolfmother was never really that big here, but i think they are one of the most talented bands ever and they dont get enough recognition at all
and yes all the fans are hardcore that i know
and im the only one :)

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY!…i’m glad they’re coming back….in some form or other….bit of abummer that its all the way over in Oz though!…but i guess that the best place to burst back into the world!
