Joshua Kerr – Wolfmother’s [almost] new bassist

December 4, 2008 by

Joshua Kerr

The LA Weekly website posted a (rather odd and crappy) news story recently about a benefit concert being held tomorrow night, in aid of Joshua Kerr, who had been in line to be the new bassist in Wolfmother. Why ‘had been’ you might ask? Well, perhaps the band is cursed this year, because Joshua was involved in a nasty accident – knocked off his bike and left for dead by a hit and run dirtbag – which left him badly injured. Bizzarely and coincidentally, the accident was in front of the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, but luckily it appears that he will come through without paying a visit. Presumably though the accident also put paid to the biggest gig of his life and Andrew’s plans in [re]forming the band.

Joshua’s medical bill apparently runs to around $26,000, so a group of local bands are pulling together to perform a gig tomorrow night to contribute. The bands are Cage 9, The Bangkok Five, Opus Dai, Kaura, Sleepmask. From the article and looking at MySpace profiles, Bangkok Five in particular are worth the entrance fee alone, so if you are in the West Hollywood area you should definitely check them out – cost is just five bucks.

The House of Blues Sunset Strip
West Hollywood, California
Cost: $5

Joshua, I truly hope you do recover well and that the gig goes a significant way to helping out with your medical bills. Best of luck to you in your future, with our beloved Wolfmother or otherwise.

(ps – I hope the pictures are the right Joshua Kerr, but looking at his MySpace profile it looks likely).

What about the organ, does he also play the organ or is Andrew placing a fulltime organist, or isn`t there an organ at all, Chris Ross on the organ was epic, so i hope the wolfmother organ doesn`t have to suffer under the line-up change.

  9. THETRUTHISOUTTHERE on December 6th, 2008 8:00 pm

hope we still make it happen. so anxious for the new Wolfmother

  12. wolfmotherfuker on December 8th, 2008 5:29 pm

this story is bullshit, just some guy trying to make money by lying to people. I went to the show at HOB, paid 12 bucks to get in and saw this dude and for some one who was involved in a recent hit and run and was left for dead he looked fine to me!!! Word on the street is he was never gonna be in the band and the whole hit and run story is untrue, this is just a scam by kerr and the bands to make money!!!
    Heres to the mighty Wolfmother!!!!

  13. chimaera on December 8th, 2008 9:16 pm

Well if that is true, that’s a pretty shitty way to try and make money.

B to the U, to the L, to the L, to the SHIT

I am glad that he is not going to be in the band i didnt want to see another gunsNroses with just the lead singer. I reckon Myles and chris will become disillusioned by the band they are trying to make that if itsounds anything like their youtube videos then it will fail and wolfmother will ecome whole again

  16. Schwansz on December 11th, 2008 1:11 pm

@ matt: I sure hope that will happen, I can`t imagine Wolfmother without Chris Ross` holy bass skills and his banging organ performances, and afcourse a Wolfmother without Myles isn`t also the REAL Wolfmother, but i still think that Andrew got his new replacements, otherwise i`d think it will be kind of stupid to announce a show!

i have a friend at the la weekly, and she tells me the word is that this is one big scam! the guy was never asked to join the band or had anything future with the band and the whole hit and run story is very suspect, it was just a simple bike accident that required a brief hospital visit… nowhere near 26,000 dollars of medical bills. the bassist made the story up to make some extra cash. Who the fuck does that???? Apprently the la weekly are investigating this as a fraud case. Go check out this guys myspace and have all the true wolfmother fans send this guy a message telling him what a piece of shit he really is!!!
Wolfmother will rise again in 2009!!!!
    Peace Out

wow. you don’t know what the hell you are talking about.

    j.p your a fucking dumbass.

what kind of asshole pays $12 to get into a $5 show?

  20. Ben on December 16th, 2008 10:44 am

Yes, Josh is doing remarkably great ..he has been going through physical therapy and yes, he does look amazingly good for someone left for dead on the side of the road.. However, his accident was over 2 months ago the human body does heal in time believe it or not.

I organized this show.. I began organizing it in early October.. right after his accident. It’s not easy organizing a show all on your own, especially a show involving 5 bands. Some shows are booked 6 months in advance.. this one was organized as quickly as possible, with enough time to promote properly.

Josh has a huge scar along the back of his left arm and is still having trouble bending it fully. I have seen the x-rays.

To the person who attended the show.. perhaps if you had simplt talked to Josh (the person who’s Benefit you paid to get in to) you could have found these things out for your self?

This whole thing is quite disturbing really. So disappointing that so many people are so quick to bring someone else down without any true knowledge or understanding of the situation.
