Wolfmother to contribute track to tribute album

November 18, 2010 by

As revealed on Andrew Stockdale’s Twitter page, Wolfmother are currently in the process of mixing a cover track they have recorded for an upcoming tribute album. The artist or artists of focus on the tribute album is/are currently unknown, but this will be the first material released by the band since the iTunes Live from Sydney EP back in March 2010. The Twitter post reads as follows:

“We’re working on a cover for a tribute album, it should be mixed by the end of the day! More info coming soon…”

While initially assumed or misunderstood to mean the band were working on an album cover for their own tribute album, it is clear that Andrew meant they have recorded a track for a ‘various artists’ compilation tribute to a certain artist or artists. If you have any idea of any tribute albums in the works which could be what Wolfmother are contributing to, let us know in the comments below or on the forums!

I have official confirmation from Will that the band have contributed a track to a ‘various artists’ tribute album, rather than having recorded an entire album themselves. When I asked him for more details on the album, he replied “no one will be able to guess who it is a tribute to. no one.” He went on to say that “Andrew will officially announce it soon” and “until then my lips are (legally) sealed!” WOOP.
