We have a little game for you to play… guess the release date of album three!
With the new lineup getting along well on tour, and new songs coming at us left, right and centre, we think Wolfmother’s follow-up to their second album Cosmic Egg isn’t too far away. So, with that in mind, and with anticipation reaching all-time highs, when do you think the mysterious third album is going to be released?
We started this question over on the Wolfmother.net Facebook page recently, and we’ve had a few guesses already, all in October 2012! Do you think this is accurate, a release in just three months? Or do you think we’ll have to wait until next year to hear some new Wolfie studio action? Let us know in the comments below, and the closest guess might just win a prize…*
*Note: there is no guarantee of a prize, but we’ll try our best!

Today, 20th July 2012, marks Wolfmother frontman Andrew Stockdale’s 36th birthday! Andrew was 28 years old when his band that we love burst onto the rock scene with their debut self-titled EP, and 8 years later the group is still at the centre of our hearts, with a third album on its way very soon!
Everyone at The Original Wolfmother Fan Site wishes Mr. Stockdale a very happy birthday, and the best of luck with the rest of the upcoming tour dates and the album release! Leave your birthday messages to Andrew in the comments below, and we’ll try our best to get them to him!

Like many of you I expect, I hadn’t listened to Cosmic Egg for quite some time. And although all of the flaws that have been much discussed were again evident (I didn’t actually manage to finish listening to the entirety of some songs), I realised that it does have some real gems – at least in my opinion.
So my challenge to you is – name one song, lyric, rif, instrumental, melody or whatever else, from Wolfmother’s Cosmic Egg. I might even come up with a prize for the best suggestion (and “Cosmic Egg sucks” or “there’s nothing good about that album” will not be contenders).
Track 03 – White Feather – first 90 seconds or so.
It’s not your typical Wolfmother, but damn is it catchy. I can’t help but feel that if this were released, or if another big or upcoming band had put this out there, it could be huge. Part of the problem is that it loses its way a bit after the 90s mark, bringing it back at the end. I listened to the track twice this morning and it has been doing the rounds in my head ever since.
