Australian OpenThis January, Wolfmother will be joining the likes of Julia Stone, Evermore, and a “secret feature act” to perform at the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam tennis event of the year.

As reported by FasterLouder, the band are among a host of artists performing at the 14-day event taking place in Melbourne between January 14 and 27. In addition to the sports action, the Open is playing host to a mini festival of sorts, with The Heineken Live Stage on Grand Slam Oval showing off the wide range of Australian musical talents.

The first act to play will be blues rock newbies The Rubens, on January 14, with Wolfmother closing proceedings on the final day of the event, January 27. In between will see performances by folk singer Julia Stone (January 26), Hunters & Collectors frontman Mark Seymour (January 21), and two tribute acts dedicated to hits of the 80s and the 90s (January 22 and 23, respectively).

The show is Wolfmother’s first confirmed show of 2013, and will undoubtedly feature the performance of a number of songs from their forthcoming new album, tentatively titled Gatherings.
