Australian Open Appearance Cancelled

Australian OpenWolfmother were forced to cancel their performance at this year’s Australian Open in Melbourne, reportedly due to adverse weather conditions.

Writing on Twitter, the organisers of the international sporting event revealed that “Due to [Queensland’s] weather situation and flight cancellations Wolfmother [were] unable to fly to Melbourne to play [at the Australian Open]”. The group, who were scheduled to perform on the closing night on January 27th, were replaced by local alt-rock veterans Something for Kate.

Over the last two weeks a tropical cyclone dubbed “Oswald” has been passing across Queensland, with resultant flooding causing property damage, homelessness, and even deaths. Transport has understandably been heavily disrupted, which has forced Wolfmother to pull out of the show.
