Elliott Hammond Leaves Wolfmother, New Drummer Enlisted

July 24, 2013 by

According to The Music Network, multi-instrumentalist Elliott Hammond (pictured second from left) has become the latest member to depart from Wolfmother, just a month after drummer Hamish Rosser left, reportedly due to scheduling conflicts with his own band The Delta Riggs.

The departure of Hammond — who performed keyboards, drums, percussion, and harmonica on Andrew Stockdale’s recent solo album Keep Moving — leaves Wolfmother as a four-piece group, with long-time bassist and keyboardist Ian Peres, rhythm guitarist Vin Steele, and new drummer Tony McCall completing the lineup of Stockdale’s band. McCall has previously performed with Cosmic Egg drummer Dave Atkins’s band Resin Dogs, and has also performed with Peres in the past.

Despite only joining the band in early 2012, after the departure of drummer Will Rockwell-Scott and Cosmic Egg rhythm guitarist Aidan Nemeth, Hammond quickly became an important part of the recent Stockdale/Wolfmother sound, primarily for his introduction of the harmonica, the addition of which Stockdale praised in recent interviews.

Sounds like concert promoters wanted the bigger payday of the Wolfmother name. The business side of the music biz doesn’t affect the actual music. The songs written are still damn good songs. Business doesn’t change that. Be proud of Keep Moving. All you gotta do is play, and people will forget about any business missteps. Even if you need to do a US tour of small rooms again, just get out there and play. People will love it. Next time around the Stockdale name will be as big as Wolfmother.

I happen to know from an inside source he left because once again he couldn’t stand Andrew and they had a fight. rumor has it andrew is looking to replace vin as well but couldn’t find someone yet. once agian nobody in the band can handle his antics.

I am really impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout
on your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify
it yourself? Either way keep up the nice quality writing,
it’s rare to see a nice blog like this one today.
