Wolfmother Enlist Prolific Session Drummer for New Record

August 22, 2013

Despite losing three drummers in as many months with the departures of Hamish Rosser in June, Elliott Hammond in July, and Tony McCall in August, it looks like Wolfmother are back in the studio with another sticksman recording the follow-up to the Andrew Stockdale-billed Keep Moving.

After frontman Stockdale recently shared a number of photos of himself, bassist and keyboardist Ian Peres, and rhythm guitarist Vin Steele at the Village Recorders studio in Los Angeles with producer and engineer Ed Cherney, experienced session drummer Gregg Bissonette has revealed that he performed with the band for their upcoming album.

Since beginning his professional career in the 1980s, Bissonette has recorded and performed with a huge number of bands and artists, including Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth, shred guitarist Joe Satriani, new wave group Duran Duran, heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, comedy rockers Spinal Tap, and even Spanish singer-songwriter Enrique Iglesias. It is not yet known if he will tour with Wolfmother.

New Drummer Tony McCall Leaves

August 6, 2013

It has been brought to the attention of Wolfmother.net that the Wolfmother’s new drummer Tony McCall, who joined just a few weeks ago, has left the band.

Citing “personal reasons” as the explanation for his departure, McCall becomes the latest in a lengthening list of departed Wolfmother band members, and the one with the shortest tenure in the group’s history.

McCall was brought in following the departure of Hamish Rosser and fill-in sticksman Elliott Hammond. Previous Wolfmother drummers include Will Rockwell-Scott, Dave Atkins, and founding member Myles Heskett.

We will keep you updated with any developments!
