Wolfmother 3

December 13, 2013

For some reason the Soundcloud recording was taken down. If you hunt around you might be able to find a recording ;)

From initial comments, sounds like it’s going down well with fans.

Ongoing forum issues

October 30, 2013

Unfortunately the forum continues to be down. It is proving to be much more difficult than hoped to restore the forums to their former glory – though those of you who have contributed content should not be too concerned because the database is backed up.

As I am going to be overseas for the next month, the fix will alas wait until I return.

In the meantime feel free to chat to the right in the chatbox, or on the Facebook page.

Sorry everyone, pain the arse I know.

Hacked!

Hacked

Some low life scum hacked the site … took some doing but I finally managed to get it back online.

Hope you didn’t miss us too much?

Site downtime – sorry!

Apologies for the downtime the last couple of days – one of these years I’ll remember to renew the domain on time.

A Cosmic Challenge

July 10, 2012

Like many of you I expect, I hadn’t listened to Cosmic Egg for quite some time. And although all of the flaws that have been much discussed were again evident (I didn’t actually manage to finish listening to the entirety of some songs), I realised that it does have some real gems – at least in my opinion.

So my challenge to you is – name one song, lyric, rif, instrumental, melody or whatever else, from Wolfmother’s Cosmic Egg. I might even come up with a prize for the best suggestion (and “Cosmic Egg sucks” or “there’s nothing good about that album” will not be contenders).

Here’s mine.

Track 03 – White Feather – first 90 seconds or so.
It’s not your typical Wolfmother, but damn is it catchy. I can’t help but feel that if this were released, or if another big or upcoming band had put this out there, it could be huge. Part of the problem is that it loses its way a bit after the 90s mark, bringing it back at the end. I listened to the track twice this morning and it has been doing the rounds in my head ever since.

Wolfmother do Queen & Bowie

July 23, 2010

It was Andrew’s birthday a few days ago, and as a present to us fans he and the band recorded a couple of epic songs and uploaded them to YouTube.

First is Queen (check out the guitar display):

And then there’s Bowie (that wallpaper hurts my eyes):

Not only are they cool covers (I particularly liked Starman with the bongos!), but it’s very cool to see the band hanging out and doing fun stuff. It feels like the chemistry is back for the first time in a good few years. Let’s hope to see more of this kind of thing!

Get a piece of WM history

July 17, 2010

Back in 2006, I posted about a t-shirt created by Wolfmother, sold by The Yellow Bird Project, and all for a good cause.

Free the Gnomes

Well, for a limited time, the t-shirt is available again! And, on sale! $15 buys you what is without doubt a unique tee. One for Wolfmother collectors I think.

So grab it while you can.

Tour dates coming thick and fast now!

July 6, 2010

Well, okay, so it’s a second … but I’ll take what I can get! Australia again of course, but this time Melbourne. Aussie fans, get your arse down there and tell us if they still rock.

Wolfmother are BACK!

July 2, 2010

After their mysterious hiatus recently following a still unknown illness, the band have just announced a new gig! It’s a charity gig to benefit The Regent (I guess Aussies may know more about this than me!).

Tickets are on sale at: http://www.globetheatre.com.au/music.html

I have to say, I am very relieved … I was starting to wonder if the band would ever return. I should learn to have more faith!

Want to star in a Slash/Stockdale music video?

April 2, 2010

Well if you are in LA, you have a chance! 75 lucky people will be chosen as extras for the shoot next weekend. Interestingly, you must be willing to have your clothing trashed and get dirty – sounds like it will be lots of fun!!

More details as posted on Facebook:

Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother and legendary guitarist Slash will be shooting a music video for the single “By The Sword” FRIDAY April 9th and SATURDAY April 10th in the Los Angeles area.

This video is being directed by Director/Cinematographer Vance Burberry.

We are looking for 75 extras male/female 18-22 yrs old – all ethnicities. Punk/rock and roll types, anyone who is into great Rock and Roll, for a concert crowd/mosh pit setting. You must be available for a long day of 12-14 hours, as the extras are a major creative factor in this video. We will need people to crowd surf, slide down a tube and more. You should be ready to take clear direction. Locations are interior/dark and exterior day.

Please note there is no pay involved however we will provide lunch and drinks.

Important: Extras must be willing to get dirty, in their own clothing, which will need to get trashed with help from our wardrobe department.

If you would like to be a part of this fun music video that will get some great exposure, please submit full name, photo, age, and cell number to slashmusicvideo@gmail.com

Thank you for your time and submissions.
