New Lineup Performs New Material

April 2, 2012

After parting ways with three-quarters of its members recently, Wolfmother in its newest incarnation (what are we on now, number four?) has been touring with American superstar Lenny Kravitz over the past few weeks, and have been performing a few new songs in the process. One of these songs is entitled ‘Long Way to Go’, and a fairly decent quality version of it has surfaced.

Check out the video here to see Wolfmother — now comprised of Andrew Stockdale (lead vocals, lead guitar), Ian Peres (bass, keys, backing vocals), Vin Steele (rhythm guitar), Elliott Hammond (keys, percussion, backing vocals) and Hamish Rosser (drums) — in action performing the new song in full at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on 21st March 2012. ‘Long Way to Go’ is likely to appear on the band’s upcoming third album, potentially set for release this or next year, and was showcased to forum member Jimmy Parker when he met the band backstage after a gig in England in 2011.

Let us know what you think of the track in the comments below, and whether you think the new members are true to the Wolfmother dynamic in terms of look, sound and style!

Wolfmother in Turmoil Again: Members Leave, Record Labels Run

February 24, 2012

It seems that Wolfmother are once again in trouble, and the future seems uncertain for the Australian four-piece hard rockers.

A source from close within the band’s organisation has revealed exclusively to Wolfmother.net that drummer Will Scott and rhythm guitarist Aidan Nemeth have officially left the band, essentially citing irreconcilable differences with frontman Andrew Stockdale, echoing the reasons for original members Chris Ross and Myles Heskett leaving back in August 2008.

In addition, it has been revealed by the same source that the band’s upcoming third album is to be delayed further. The statement includes the following passage:

There is no release date for album #3 because Modular, Universal and Interscope are not interested in releasing it.

It is currently unclear as to whether the band will continue to perform together, or whether the album will receive a release at any time soon, although the band did recently perform at the 2012 ASP World Surfing Awards ceremony in Australia.

Wolfmother.net will have more news as soon as it is available.

Wolfmother to appear on ZZ Top tribute album

August 24, 2011

Back in November last year, we reported that Wolfmother had contributed to an unknown tribute album. The news has been revealed in the last few days that the album is a tribute to Texan blues rock trio ZZ Top, due to be released in October this year.

The eleven-song collection, entitled A Tribute from Friends, is due to be released on October 11, 2011, and features covers from a wide range of artists including Nickelback, Mastodon, and even Wyclef Jean.

Wolfmother’s contribution is a cover of “Cheap Sunglasses”, a single originally released in 1980 from the album Degüello. The song will be the fifth track on the album, after Nickelback’s cover of “Legs” and before “Got Me Under Pressure” by Duff McKagan’s Loaded.
