Tweeting earlier today, Australian model Amanda Hinchcliffe revealed to her almost 2,500 followers that the band were filming a new music video, writing the following:

Teaser/Sneak peak From todays shoot for the new @wolfmother film Clip. [sic]

Attached to the tweet was an image of Hinchcliffe and another model, unidentified, which can be seen above and found in its original size here. Wolfmother.net will have more information as soon as it is available.

Update:

Australian boutique The End Collective last night posted another photo from the video shoot on their Facebook page, which can be found here. The shot features most of the band, as well as another female dancer/model, performing in a studio-like setting. The post was retweeted by the official Wolfmother Twitter account, so its legitimacy seems confirmed.

Todd DiCiurcio, another party involved in the video who simply describes himself as an “artist”, also tweeted a photo from the end of the shoot yesterday, which can be found here.

Firstly the group will be returning to the Splendour in the Grass festival, this year held in the Belongil Fields of Byron Bay on July 29th. Wolfmother have previously played at Splendour three times, with their 2008 appearance marking the last live performance of the original lineup featuring Chris Ross and Myles Heskett.

Following on from this show, the group — now comprised of Andrew Stockdale, Ian Peres, Vin Steele, Elliott Hammond and Hamish Rosser — will support American alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins, pictured, on a couple of dates on their upcoming tour in support of new album Oceania. Wolfmother will perform at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on July 31st, and at the Melbourne Hisense Arena on August 2nd.

Wolfmother’s last shows in Australia took place back in March, when the new lineup continued to find its feet with shows in Melbourne, Wollongong, Sydney, Brisbane and Hobart.

Last month, we reported that Wolfmother’s labels Modular and Universal were “not interested” in releasing the band’s third record, recorded throughout 2011 by the former lineup of Stockdale, Ian Peres, Aidan Nemeth and Will Rockwell-Scott, following a tip-off from someone close within the band’s organisation. Now, we can exclusively reveal that the group — now comprised of Stockdale, Peres, Vin Steele, Elliott Hammond and Hamish Rosser — will be recording the album themselves for a release presumably later this year.

Tweeting earlier today, Stockdale said the following about the new album:

One weeks [sic] rehearsals of new record, it’s going off! I’m thinking live studio record…. All without label support funded by yours truly!

For the record, I’ve asked to be dropped by the label about 7 months ago and I’m still asking to be dropped so we can release something!

The news is the first we’ve heard about the new album in some months now, and indicates progress towards a release date (which could be very soon, given the lack of label involvement). Wolfmother.net will have more news as soon as it becomes available.
