White Feather – formally known as Wolfmother(?)
February 3, 2009
Many of you will have seen the emailer about the new gig coming up and the apparent band name change (personally I haven’t officially had the email yet – damn mailing system). Without an announcement alongside this, it is difficult to know what is behind this – is it:
- a permanent band name change to reflect the new direction, or “phase II” if you wish?
- a temporary change aimed at ‘testing the waters’ with a new lineup, in the hope that if things don’t go so well the Wolfmother name won’t be too badly tarnished?
- simply a promotional stunt aimed at getting mugs like us speculating what is going on to regenerate interest in the band?
- something else entirely?
My speculation is that it’s point 2 or 3 and not a permanent move.
Anyway, the upshot for now is that there are two gigs coming up very soon – click the images for tickets:
More news when I get it!
Guitar Hero World Tour Australian Track Pack
January 9, 2009
I played Guitar Hero for the first time this Christmas (I know, where have I been?!) and loved rocking out to Woman. I actually got fairly decent by the end of the holidays and managed to complete it on Hard (oh shut up all of you Expert ‘experts‘).
Well, Wolfmother fans, you’ll now be able to have a crack at another Wolfmother classic, Dimension. In honour of Australia day, Activision are releasing a special “Australian Track Pack”, available on Xbox live Jan 22, and PS and Wii Feb 5.
Oh, you also get Silverchair’s Tomorrow and The Vine’s Outtathaway if you are interested.
Rock on, Wayne. Rock on, Garth.

(WARNING: the trailer shown in the full post is rated ‘R’):
Well the news drought continues – we can only hope that the band are getting their act together and recording some tunes …
Anyway, I was in the cinema the other day waiting to see … Mirrors I think it was (great jumpy film!) … half watching the trailers … when suddenly I hear a familiar tune.
Sure enough, Joker & The Thief was blasting out of the speakers, introducing the film “My Best Friend’s Girl” (not sure if the film will be funny, it looks amusing at least …).
So it’s good to see that Wolfmother’s music is still being used, which to be honest, for a band of its popularity I think is quite a lot. I thought it might be a good community exercise, while we wait for “phase two” to cometh, to compile a comprehensive list of occasions that a Wolfmother tune has been used. I’ve started the list with a couple of the obvious ones. Please provide links (IMDB or similar) where possible.
Once we’re happy with the list I’ll add it to a permanent page.
